adverbadverb

very

muy

Used to make an adjective or adverb stronger or to show a high degree of something.

Definición y significado

Very significa principalmente «muy». Intensifica adjetivos y adverbios:

  • The test was very difficult. — El examen fue muy difícil.
  • She runs very quickly.

  • This is the very place.

No suele modificar directamente verbos; para expresar «mucho» con un verbo se usa, por ejemplo, much : I like it very much.

Expresiones y combinaciones frecuentes

  • very much : «mucho», a menudo con verbos.
  • the very same : «exactamente el mismo».
  • at the very least : «como mínimo».
  • very well : «muy bien»; también puede expresar aceptación formal.
