verladen
load
Meaning (in English)
verladen has two common meanings:
-
To load (goods/cargo) onto a vehicle or means of transport
e.g. to load something onto a truck, train, ship, container, etc. -
To transfer/ship (goods) by loading them onto another carrier (logistics/transport context)
This can include transshipment: moving goods from one vehicle to another as part of shipping.
In some contexts (especially with people), it can also mean to put someone onto a vehicle (more formal/administrative), e.g. to board/transport people.
Word parts
- ver-: a prefix that often indicates a change of state or a completed/process-oriented action.
