Le mot allemand "ob" est une conjonction subordonnante qui signifie "si" dans le sens de "si oui ou non". Il introduit une proposition interrogative indirecte exprimant une incertitude ou une alternative, par exemple :
- Ich weiß nicht, ob er kommt. (Je ne sais pas s'il vient.)
Contrairement à la conjonction "wenn" (qui signifie "si" conditionnel), "ob" n'exprime pas une condition mais une interrogation indirecte.
